Description
Amethyst geodes are unique geological structures in Minecraft containing crystals that grow over time. Each geode has an outer layer of smooth basalt, a middle layer of calcite, and an inner layer of amethyst blocks. Budding amethyst blocks within the geode will grow crystal clusters on any exposed face. Geodes are relatively rare but can be found in any biome throughout the Overworld. The crystals inside serve both decorative and practical purposes, being used in crafting spyglasses and tinted glass. The peaceful ambient sounds and purple glow of amethyst crystals make geodes particularly atmospheric.
How to Find
Amethyst geodes generate between Y-levels 70 and -64 in all biomes. They're spherical structures made of smooth basalt and calcite layers, with amethyst blocks inside. The crystals grow on budding amethyst blocks and have four growth stages: small, medium, large, and cluster. Only fully grown clusters can be harvested, dropping 4 amethyst shards. Silk Touch won't work on clusters.
