Description
Emerald ore is Minecraft's rarest overworld ore, generating only in mountain biomes. Unlike other ores, emeralds typically generate as single blocks rather than veins. Each ore drops one emerald when mined with an iron pickaxe or better. Emeralds serve as the primary currency for villager trading, making them valuable despite their limited crafting uses. They're most abundant in mountain peaks and can be found in both stone and deepslate variants.
How to Find
Emerald ore generates between Y-levels 320 and -16, exclusively in mountain biomes. Most common at heights above Y-level 100. Requires iron pickaxe or better. Fortune enchantment increases drops. More reliably obtained through villager trading.
